
Dr Sammy Quaife

Dr Quaife is a Reader in Behavioural Science and Chartered Psychologist within the Centre for Cancer Screening, Prevention and Early Diagnosis at Queen Mary University of London’s Wolfson Institute of Population Health. She also holds an Honorary Associate Professor position in the Department of Behavioural Science and Health at University College London. Dr Quaife leads a programme of research focussed on the psychological and behavioural aspects of cancer early detection, with a particular emphasis on improving the equity, acceptability, and impact of population-level detection strategies. Much of her research is concentrated in lung cancer screening with an applied, intervention focus. She is the lead Behavioural Scientist on two major implementation studies—the SUMMIT Study and the Yorkshire Lung Screening Trial—and serves as an expert advisor to NHSE’s Lung Cancer Screening Programme. Her research is supported by major funders including NIHR and Cancer Research UK, and has informed national policy and practice.
