Lung cancer Service Specification and Optimal Pathway

The Lung Cancer Clinical Expert Group has produced a Service Specification series of recommendations for the introduction of a new ‘Optimal Pathway for lung cancer care. These have now been approved by NHS England’s Cancer Programme Board and the newly established Cancer Alliances are charged by NHS England with the implementation of this pathway over 2018-2019. The purpose of the recommendations is to inform and support the cancer alliances when planning lung cancer services and referral pathways within their areas.

The recommendations address the whole cancer pathway from prevention, early diagnosis, treatment and care to living with and beyond cancer.
